SSA Management
“Commissioner.” Your New Title?
“Being a commissioner can be very rewarding,” says the current commission chairman Bruce Longanecker, owner of the Lincoln Park Market at 2500 N. Clark St.
The process for filling vacancies on the current commission operates in a similar way to the creation of the initial commission. Vacancies are made public and applications are solicited. Feedback about applicants is gathered from the Alderman, the community, and the Lincoln Park Chamber of Commerce. A nominating committee reviews the applications and suggests a slate of commissions for aldermanic and mayoral approval.
The Commission’s Role.
The Clark Street SSA establishment ordinance designates three annual recommendation responsibilities for the commission: the levy rate for the annual budget, the program manager, and the work plan comprising items from a list of authorized services.
