Del Seoul is the hotly anticipated new Korean street-food-style restaurant on Clark Street. Open since mid-October, this eatery has reviewers and diners swooning. In fact, Del Seoul just won Michelin's coveted "Bib Gourmand" award in November -- which stands for fabulous eats at rock-bottom pricing.
The concept? Korean street food, with low street-food pricing to match. Inspired by the Korean taco craze that's become a food truck staple across the country, Del Seoul brings that aesthetic to Clark Street. The eatery is decorated with food-cart-like sheet metal, flat screens tout the menu, and all tacos come on grilled white corn tortillas with cilantro-onion relish, chili-garlic salsa, and a proprietary slaw.
Proteins? Choose from soy-soju marinated beef short rib, Korean BBQ pork, and chili-aioli-kissed shrimp. Also on offer are Seoul-street-style dumplings filled with pork, veggie/fried egg bibimbap bowls, plus kimchi and pork belly fries covered in cheese and sour cream. At Del Seoul, a full meal studded with these delicacies can be had for less than $10. Wholesome ingredients, delicious tastes, and fantastic prices. "The Feast" cautions not to leave the restaurant before sampling the ultra-delicate Seoul-style dumplings, handmade, stuffed with pork, then served with a Sake-soy sauce.
As a testament to Del Seoul's popularity, the eatery found itself thronged with hungry diners so often that it recently decided to expand. This May, it officially took over the space next door to accomodate all of its fans. Now let's go get ourselves some Bibimbap and a side of Kimchi Fries!
