About the artist: Shencheng Xu
Shencheng Xu received his BFA in Sculpture from the Luxun Academy of Fine Arts, China in 1993, and went on to complete his MFA in Sculpture from Maryland Institute College of Art’s Rinehart School of Sculpture in 2001. The same year, he received the “Outstanding Student Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture Award” from International Sculpture Center. Shencheng has had numerous solo and group exhibitions and he has completed over a dozen outdoor monumental sculptures both in United States and in China. He uses a variety of traditional and contemporary media and techniques in his work, which have been published in Sculpture Magazine and several other art periodicals. Currently, Shencheng is a professor at Northeastern Illinois University in the Art Department.
